Sachi Yamabe was born in Burnaby, BC and grew up on Saltspring Island and Vancouver Island.  She is third generation Japanese-Canadian (Sansei).  She received a BFA from the University of Victoria in 1987 and an MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design (NSCAD) in 1989.  Her work has been exhibited in many group and solo shows and it is a part of various private and public collections.  She lives with her artist husband in Vancouver, British Columbia. 


I like to let my work direct me as much as I direct it, always trying to balance the two, allowing for the fortuitous to enter.
